  • Consistory
Consistory manages the general affairs of the congregation, and holds monthly meetings the second Monday of the month. Consistory follows the By-Laws of Zion's congregation. At year end, they call for an annual congregational meeting to take place in November. At this time, new members are elected, the budget is presented for approval, and any other concerns are discussed. Consistory consists of the Pastor, six Elders, six Deacons, and one Youth Associate. Each member serves a term of two years. There is a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Asst. Treasurer, and Recording Financial Secretary. Zion's is always looking for new faces to serve on Consistory.
    Subcommittees
The following subcommittees are chaired by members of Consistory. Most of these groups hold their own periodic meetings. Anyone in the congregation is invited and encouraged to join any of these committees. You do not have to be a member of Consistory to do so.
    Auxiliary Organization
The Auxiliary is responsible for the scheduling of the church calendar.
    Church Growth and Evangelism
This committee's purpose is to find ways to help our congregation grow, both in numbers and in participation. The members also take turns writing articles for "Listening in on the Evangeline" in the Tymes. Their latest project is the new mentoring program, which should be up and running in the near future.
    Finance
The Finance committee keeps track of the churches finances. They decide how and where to best invest funds.
    Personnel
This committee is responsible for interviewing and hiring church personnel. They also monitor the performance of current personnel.
    Property and Maintenance
The Property and Maintenance committee looks after the maintenance of the church building and property.
    Worship and Ministry
The members of this committee schedule the teams of ushers along with head ushers for each team. They make the schedule for those assisting the financial secretary for each month. (counting the money collected during offering and making up the deposit slip) They also keep track of attendance numbers for each Sunday and who will change the hymn numbers in the sanctuary.
  • Acolytes
The acolytes light and extinguish the candles on the altar during church services. Any child in fourth through eighth grade is eligible to participate.
  • Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is a group of women whose duties include preparing the altar each week for worship service, preparing the elements for communion, decorating the church on holidays, assisting with baptisms and delivering the flowers from the worship services to other members of the congregation who are home bound or ill. They are in need of new members. Anyone who is interested is welcome.
  • Bulletin Sponsorship
Anyone may sponsor a church bulletin in memory of a loved one or for a special announcement etc. by calling the church office to see which dates are available and giving Tina you information. The cost is $20.00.
  • Flowers
Anyone interested in having flowers placed in the sanctuary on a Sunday morning, should call Jeanne Graham. She can take care of ordering for you, and tell you which dates are available. Flowers can be placed in memory of someone or to mark a special occasion etc.
  • Greeters
This is probably the easiest way to get involved in an activity. Each week a pair of members greet people at the inside door of the sanctuary before church service. There is a person in charge of scheduling. Just call the office to have your name put on the list. It's a great way to meet other members.
  • Nursery Staff
There are currently four women in charge of scheduling Nursery (child care) volunteers. These volunteers take care of small children while their parents attend church service. All adults of Zion's are invited to serve on the nursery staff. You are only called on about two times a year. Also, any young people ages twelve and up are needed to serve as helpers.
  • Phone Chain
The phone chain is initiated for cancellations and emergencies. It is also used to call members and remind them of certain upcoming events. Various members in the congregation have a list of people to call when the phone chain is used.
  • Prayer Chain
Zion's has a group of people who offer up daily prayer for those in need.  Names of the individuals for prayer requests may be given to the group to be included in the chain.
  • Sunday School Officers
The Sunday School has officers which consists of a Superintendent, Asst. Superintendent, Secretary, Asst. Secretary, Treasurer, and Asst. Treasurer. They hold quarterly meetings and are responsible for the affairs relating to the Sunday School. Each person serves one year as assistant and one year as acting officer. Elections for new officers are held in November. Anyone interested in serving please call the church office.
  • Use of Facilities
The church facilities are available for use by the congregation for personal use, such as, wedding receptions, showers, funerals, etc. Consistory must approve all usage, and a donation is greatly appreciated.
  • Ushers
Ushers collect the offering during church service. They work in teams of six. If you would like to do this, your name will be added to a team and you will be contacted by the person in charge of that team when it is time for you to serve. On communion Sundays, the ushers also serve the bread and wine. You must be, or have been, on Consistory to do this, however.
